An unidentified man says he will inform John Doyle (“HB”) about what he heard. The caricature shows how HB got his information about government at that time. Plate 212. Satire lithograph designed by John Doyle (1797-1867) aka “HB”. Folio. Thomas McLean, 1829-49. From his series Political Sketches. Each with a blind stamp indicating that it is a “Subscriber’s Copy.” By writing his initials twice-over, John Doyle manipulated the letters to create the pseudonym signature “HB”. HB arrived in London in 1821, As HB began his career, he introduced a gentler sort of satire, making soft jokes calculated to avoid strong offence. Rather than exaggerating physical features and pushing the bawdy laugh, Doyle employed reasonable likenesses with circumstantial humor.

This is an ORIGINAL Lithograph that was dated from 1832 with its Blind Stamp that is referenced in the photos. It is Titled ” A Parliamentary Group ” with a Subtitle “Seized with A Sudden Drowsiness Upon A Prosy Orator Rising To Speak”. This piece is ORIGINAL and has natural wear and hazing around the edges that is shown in the photos. This was done with Great Depth and Dimension to the Details from Each persons Facial Features and Expressions down to the details of the their clothing and Top Hats from the period. It has nice architectural Details in the surrounding as shown in the photos of them on the Bench. The Beauty of Art is in the Eye of the Beholder. Please keep in mind this is an older piece that is original and has minor imperfections and wear consistent with its age. The piece does come in a glass frame that is also old and aged and should be reframed to match your Décor.
Overall framed it measures approx. 15 inches wide and approx. 11 1/4 inches high. This was BEAUTIFULLY MADE of the Highest Quality and Craftmanship that can be handed down to Generations.
